1. Lucy In 1999, Lucy, 95, relocated with her husband to a new area. Despite being a Great-Great Grandmother, she had no family members nearby and felt alone and isolated in a community she didn't feel connected to.

She heard about her local Live at Home scheme and decided to go along. Seventeen years later, Lucy’s husband has sadly passed away but she still looks forward to coming to seeing her friends at her Live at Home scheme.

“I love meeting everyone and getting to know the other members. All the friends I have now have been made through Live at Home” she says.

Many older people, particularly those without nearby family members to visit them, often feel lonely and isolated. Live at Home schemes provide members with regular social interaction with like-minded older people in their local community and opportunities to get out of the house. For Lucy, her Live at Home scheme does just that; “Where I live, I never get to see anybody, I have no relatives nearby.

Days I don’t come here [to Live at Home] are terrible. I get so much happiness from coming. It stops loneliness at home, I really love it. I wouldn’t like it to close” Lucy says.
