National Maritime Museum Cornwall Abseil Challenge

Sunday 18 June 2017, Falmouth

Abseil from a height of 80ft down the National Maritime Museum Cornwall

Join us at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and take part in a daring 80 foot abseil from the top of the tower. You will experience spectacular panoramic views of the harbour whilst raising funds to support Music Therapy at Langholme, our Care Home in Falmouth.

You will be supported by trained professional instructors who give a comprehensive safety briefing and provide all the specialist equipment required before escorting you to the top of the tower. From there, you begin an exhilarating descent to the ground, taking in breath-taking views across Falmouth harbour.

Spread The Word

£30 could pay for an individual music therapy session, giving someone the opportunity to express their feelings.

£180 could fund a Music Therapist for a day, working to reduce anxiety in four 1:1 sessions and one group session.

£360 could pay for a 12-week course of music therapy sessions for one person, easing anxiety and improving their overall feeling of well-being.

Spread the word and maximise your fundraising!

We've got lots of resources to help you hit your fundraising targets. To find out more, get in touch with the Fundraising Team.

Gift Aid

For every pound your supporters donate, we can claim an extra 25p from the taxman (provided they are a taxpayer at the time of their donation.) This can make a big difference in helping us to reduce loneliness and isolation in older age. Encourage your sponsors to confirm they’re happy for us to claim Gift Aid when they fill in your sponsorship form.

If they qualify for Gift Aid, all they have to do is fill in the sponsorship form fully and sign the Gift Aid box. It’s important to remember that we can only claim Gift Aid for donations. We can’t claim it for:
• raffle tickets
• entry to an event
• sponsorship from close family members for some challenge events
If you need any more information or have any questions, just get in touch.

Matched Funding

Some companies have a match-funding scheme which could double the amount you raise. Speak to your employer to see if you could take advantage of this.

Fundraising Online

Creating a fundraising page online can massively boost your sponsorship. Start by uploading a photo, sharing your reasons for fundraising and setting yourself a target.

A large opening donation can have an impact on the average amount the rest of your supporters donate - so ask a generous friend or family member to get things going!

It’ll be alright on the night

Boost your fundraising, tell everyone about your challenge and spread the word about our vital work by publicising your efforts. Here are just a few tips.
